Originally, this short work was written for the recruitment competition for a horn player for the National Orchestra of Radio France in 2003.

I decided to write a real work in the formal sense of the term, but whose level of difficulty is accessible to a student in 3rd cycle.

The writing does not yield to the banalities of use as soon as one writes a deciphering or that one writes for the pupils. A great requirement is required here and the instrumentalists will have to take care to play very precisely what is noted on the score, in the smallest detail with sensitivity and without adding anything. The work turns out to be more delicate than it first appears.

Given the demanding writing, this work has its place in a concert performed by a professional instrumentalist.
