There are works called " musique pure " that are written solely for the pleasure of composing with no other goal than to play with their own_cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_pensées musicales : this is the case of this Trio whose bass instruments contribute to the homogeneity and balance of the whole.

Very improvised in character, it alternates particularly lively, if not violent, moments with other almost dark and dramatic moments of calm.

The five parts of the work are linked together without interruption and each of these highlights more particularly one of the motifs that runs through the composition from start to finish.

A certain spirit that could be described as " english " dominates here : liveliness of musical gestures, delicacy, false ingenuity, precision of articulations and rhythms, refinement of instrumentation and balance.
